The Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) initiative announced the State-of-the-Art Partnership Awards 2019 results chosen after a global competition to recognize the most innovative and successful public-private partnerships that are driving green growth and climate action, with measurable success and focused on one of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Latin American Water Funds Partnership received the award in the “Clean Water and Sanitation “category.

New multi-sectoral collaboration agreement for the benefit of Mendoza's water security.
Within the framework of the II Congress and International Exhibition Water for the Future 2019, in the Province of Mendoza, an Agreement of Understanding was signed and the formation of the Promoter Group whose objective is to join efforts for the creation of a Water Fund to contribute to the water security of the Mendoza River basin.

Investing in reforestation, conservation and restoration solutions to guarantee water security in Latin American cities is profitable
The report “Natural Infrastructure in the Water Supply Sistem of Guandú, in Rio de Janeiro” was presented in an event at the Museum of the Future in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. This is the second report in a series of studies of natural infrastructure for water in Brazil and Mexico.

The Latin American Water Funds Partnership welcomes the International Climate Initiative (IKI) as a new partner!
IKI will strengthen Water Funds to become a major engine for climate change adaptation to reduce water risks for major cities in Latin America. With its support, Water Funds will work to mainstream ecosystem-based adaptation strategies in their work.

Water Funds, a successful model that contributes to the water security of cities, is presented at the XXIV Inter-American Conference of Mayors and Local Authorities in Miami
During the XXIV Inter-American Conference of Mayors and Local Authorities organized by the International University of Florida that was held from June11th to 14th, 2018, Aurelio Ramos, Conservation Programs General Manager at TNC, moderated a panel that showcased the experience of Water Funds in the region with the participation of Hugo Contreras, Water Security Director for Latin America at TNC, Verónica Arias, Secretary of the Metropolitan Distric of Quito; Maria Claudia de la Osa, Executive Director of Corporación Cuenca Verde and Marco Bressan, Head of Scientific Data of Satellogic.

The Latin American Water Funds Partnership together with the Metropolitan Regional Government and 18 other institutions signed an agreement to collaborate in the protection of water resources in the Metropolitan Region of Santiago
The Metropolitan Region of Santiago supplies water to a third of the Chilean population, also provides water for agriculture, hydropower production, mining and the wine industry. However, there are several problems such as unsustainable livestock practices close to water sources, and the effects of climate change that meaningfully affect the region’s water security Under this panorama, the creation of a Water Fund for the Metropolitan Region of Santiago could be possible.

The Nature Conservancy and the Latin American Water Funds Partnership were strategic partners of IWA at the IWA 2017 Water and Development Congress and Exhibition, which was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina
High level officials from TNC and the LAWFP participated in a large number of sessions related to public policy and nature-based solutions, the business case to invest in nature-based solutions, showcasing the recent ROI study of Quito, SDC ambitions on water, amongst other relevant topics.
