THE INTER-AMERICAN DEVELOPMENT BANK

The Inter-American Development Bank has solid experience, reputation, and knowledge of water challenges, in addition to having a wide influence in the region. We work together to promote the implementation of hybrid solutions that fuse traditional infrastructure-and nature-based solutions to guarantee water security in cities.

THE PARTNERSHIP AND ITS CONTRIBUTION Based on the water security challenges that cities increasingly experience, the Latin American Water Funds Partnership promotes the Water Funds model as a viable and effective alternative to face these challenges.

FEMSA FOUNDATION

FEMSA Foundation has been a key ally that has contributed part of its “know-how” to replicate the Water Fund model, with a focus on quality and ongoing improvement, both fundamental characteristics of its business model.

THE GLOBAL ENVIRONMENT FACILITY

The Global Environment Facility grants independent funding to developing countries and transition economies for projects that provide innovative solutions to urgent global environmental challenges, incorporating local challenges.

THE NATURE CONSERVANCY

The Nature Conservancy provides technical and scientific knowledge, in addition to assisting and providing unique advice to Water Funds. The goal is to ensure the implementation process and work with communities, authorities, and many private sector stakeholders to guarantee the long-term success of the Funds.

Aurelio Ramos As part of our mission, we develop tools based on nature that aim to solve some of the great challenges. This is how the Water Funds model emerged and we believe there is a great opportunity to scale.

THE INTERNATIONAL CLIMATE INITIATIVE (IKI)

The International Climate Initiative (IKI) provides funding and knowledge exchange on climate change subjects, strengthening the work of Water Funds in terms of the co-benefits generated, starting with the implementation of nature-based solutions from an ecosystem-adaptation perspective.

Throughout this time, the partners of the Alliance have contributed experience, knowledge and human and financial resources throughout this time, demonstrating a solid commitment that has been fundamental to expand and refine the Model of Water Funds that has been key to scaling water funds in the region and beyond.
